P.Borodin: The number of Union programmes will not be reduced because of the global financial crisis

Commenting upon the influence of the global financial crisis on union cooperation Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the Union State, said that Belarus and Russia don’t intend to reduce the number of Union programmes and the amount of their financing. The statement was made during the meeting with Prime-Minister of Belarus Sergey Sidorski which was held on the occasion of forthcoming meetings of Union Council of Ministers and the Supreme Council of State.

Commenting upon the influence of the global financial crisis on union cooperation Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the Union State, said that Belarus and Russia don’t intend to reduce the number of Union programmes and the amount of their financing. The statement was made during the meeting with Prime-Minister of Belarus Sergey Sidorski which was held on the occasion of forthcoming meetings of Union Council of Ministers and the Supreme Council of State.

“There is no question of cutting down any programmes,” he said. “On the contrary, we increase the number of industrial programmes: these are agricultural mechanical engineering and space exploration. Besides that, the third programme “Diesel machine building” is being elaborated at present; the programmes concerned with defence industry and quarry machines are also being worked at. What is more, current Union budget has been increased by 20% as compared with the preceding year”.
