On August 8th on Russian party’s initiative Presidents of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation had a telephone conversation, which covered a wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations and international activities.
The two leaders discussed some socio-economic issues of mutual concern. It was emphasized that cooperation between our countries is improving noticeably, at a rapid pace.
The Presidents agreed that active cooperation in socio-political area should be an integral part of the relations within the Union State.
During the conversation Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin discussed all traditional foreign policy issues, and reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation aimed at ensuring strengthened common defence space.
The President of Russia inquired about the progress on the construction of the nuclear power plant in Belarus and assured the Head of Belarusian state that all the commitments on implementation of this large-scale project will be fulfilled by the Russian party rigorously within the agreed timeframe.
The two leaders agreed that the issues raised in today’s conversation should be addressed during their next personal meetings.
