Alexander Lukashenko: Belarus needs to activate cooperation with CSTO countries in order to form common defense space.

It is necessary to activate cooperation of Belarus with Russia Federation and Collective Security Treaty Organization member-states in order to form common defense space. This opinion was expressed by President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko while making speech in front of the participants of efficient collection of Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. That was reported by press-service of the Head of the State.

“The current year has become for our state the year of challenges. In difficult conditions of global financial and economic crisis Belarus has strongly proved its ability to response to global challenges of modern world, - it is said in the speech.- It is fully applied to the Armed Forces that successfully met the targets set for this year.

It is stated in the speech that the main task of the Armed Forces in 2010 is defined as complete and quality realization of the Plan for Preparation of the Armed Forces, every possible improvement of combat readiness and mobilization level, training and cohesion of management bodies and troops, effectiveness of combat readiness of units. It is necessary to continue the work over optimization of fighting strength, improvement of fighting and supporting systems of the Armed Forces. Inbetween we should decisively from low effective structures that are not related to realization of combat tasks and the work with military personnel and armament.

President also said he is sure that responsibility and allegiance to officer corps and military duty, high proficiency level and martial arts will in full stipulate successful accomplishment of tasks set for the Armed Forces that are the maintenance of peace on Belarusian land, sovereignty defense and territorial integrity of the country.
