Head of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots L.Slutsky believes that Eurasian Parliament could be based both in St. Petersburg and Astana. “Eurasian Parliament can work both in St. Petersburg and Astana, where there are all conditions to work efficiently, and not only in Astana, as was proposed by the Kazakh party,” said L.Slutsky at the Committee meeting which focused on the development of Russian-Kazakh relations.
L.Slutsky noted that the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union, which should be finished by 2015, will inevitably entail radical reorganization of inter-parliamentary dialogue. Therefore, he added, “the formation of a full-fledged Eurasian Parliament should also be a matter of negotiation on the way towards Eurasian integration”.
