According to government institution “Directorate of Nuclear Power Plant Construction”, Belarusian and Russian state governing bodies are to negotiate the general contract for building a nuclear power plant in Belarus.
Belarusian and Russian parties have already initialled the general contract for the bulk of NPP’s construction volume. The next step is to send the document to public authorities of Belarus and Russia for consideration. Their comments and instructions will be taken into account when drawing up the contract. Its signing is scheduled for mid-June. “It’s a standard workflow,” noted the directorate.
Belarusian nuclear power plant will consist of two power-generating units with aggregate capacity up to 2400 (2x1200) MW and is to be built on Ostrovets site in Grodno region.
On October 11th, 2011 the parties signed a contractual agreement on building a nuclear power plant in Belarus. It, in essence, is a framework one and determines key provisions for the general contract to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
