The 17th International art forum “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk” traditionally became a token event in the cultural life of the country and received a great coverage in Belarusian mass media.

“From an unpretentious meeting of artists from Slavic countries the festival turned into a worldwide forum”, - said the President of Belarus A.Lukashenko at the opening ceremony of “Slavyanski Bazar” (“Respublika”, 15.07.08).

“According to the Head of the state the secret of an extremely magnetic force and popularity of “Slavyanski Bazar” lies in the fact that this holiday of arts took its place at the world creative Olympus in the severest competition between other international festivals “without turning into a banal monotonous event but became a unique one” (“Zvyazda”, 15.07.08).

“Definitely the 17th festival raised the level of “Slavyanski Bazar” to a new one. “Never there are enough victories, - fairly pointed out the first deputy Minister of Culture V.Rylatko. – This festival is an exam for us”. First a concert dedicated to the Day of Union State took place here” (SB. Belarus today”, 18.07.08).

“It is the fifth year when at “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk” the Day of Union State of Belarus and Russia has been celebrated. Traditionally on this day the pres-conference with the Union State Secretary P.Borodin was held. Journalists asked about many issues including the one about whether Union State is planning to increase the amount of investments into the festival. As P.Borodin pointed out the investments can increase the more so because it is possible due to the Union State budget which is enlarged at the expense of more than 40 successfully implemented joint programs” (“Republic”, 16.07.08).

“The best confirmation of the fact that we are a united nation is the participation in this wonderful common holiday named “Slavyanski Bazar”, - said Union State Secretary P.Borodin. – Mainly here we can see clearly that we have common roots, culture, traditions and history” (“Soyuznoe veche”, “Narodnaya gazeta” appendix, 17.07.08).

“We do not need integration for its own sake. The task is not just to unite our nations but to provide a more rapid process in economy and social sphere”, - said Union State Secretary P.Borodin. According to Pavel Pavlovich it is insulting to go round in circles for the two brotherly nations longing for unification. Strategically significant location of Belarus in the centre of Europe specifies Russian geopolitical and economical interest in it” (“Belarusskaya niva”, 15.07.08).
