Novgorod district governor with formal visit to Belarus

Novgorod district delegation with the governor Sergei Mitin as the head is coming to the Republic of Belarus with a formal visit on June, 16-17. Proper arrangements were made in the course of the meeting of the head of the district with Vasili Dolgolev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation that took place on February, 27 in 2008.

Sergei Mitin is expected to meet with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Sidorski. Apart from that the visit of Minsk tractor plant and Minsk automobile plant is included into the events official program; the first common commission conference on cooperation development of Novgorod District with Belarus will take place.

As the Governor of Novgorod district pointed out it is necessary to outline such work directions that in the bud could change the situation in the economy of the region. According to Sergei Mitin the major ones could be: cooperation on the issues of farming equipment deliveries to Novgorod district, young animals purchase from Belarusian breeders for personal farm development encouragement in the district, the consideration of possibilities of forest resources and turf fields development with the help of Belarusian special equipment.

External economic relations between Novgorod district and the Republic of Belarus have a long and stable nature. Novgorod district has interregional cooperation with Gomel, Mogilev, Minsk, Grodno, Vitebsk and Brest districts of the Republic of Belarus. The volume of foreign trade turnover of the district with the Republic of Belarus reached the level of 100, 6 mln of US dollars (that makes up 7, 5 % of total volume of foreign trade turnover in the district) in 2007. The growth of the trade turnover with Belarus in comparison with 2006 made up 12, 5 %.

Currently 5 organizations with the Belarusian capital participation and 5 organizations with 100% of Belarusian capital are registered on the territory of the district.
