Winners of the 1st ‘Bridge of Friendship’ International Literary Competition for young writers are awarded in Minsk
On 24 October a ‘Bridge of Friendship’ was erected in the National Library. This is the name given to the competition for young writers of the Union State. Overall ten winners were selected, not just one.

On 24 October Minsk hosted a media seminar: ‘Agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on social security cooperation: problems and their solutions’. The seminar was held at the initiative of the Labour and Social Security Ministry of Belarus, with the support of the Permanent Committee of the Union State.

Final stage of the Union State schoolchildren’s competition - ‘Russia and Belarus: Our historical and spiritual commonality’ takes place in Polotsk
As part of the Union State events, the final stage of the academic competition for schoolchildren, ‘Russia and Belarus: Our historical and spiritual commonality’ will take place in Polotsk between 27 October and 2 November 2013. The competition is being financed from the Union State’s 2013 budget.

Secretary of the Union State welcomes organisers and participants in the ‘Naval Stalingrad’ campaign
The ‘Naval Stalingrad’ military and patriotic event involving both Belarusian and Russian seamen took place in Belarus and Russia between 14 and 21 October. The campaign is part of a patriotic project called ‘The Naval Brotherhood is Inviolable!’. The Secretary of the Union State welcomed those involved in organising and taking part in the commemorative event.

Secretary of the Union State welcomes participants and organisers of the Russian national forum of student groups
The Russian national forum of student groups has started in Sochi. Over one thousand students from 72 Russian regions, together with previous particiipants, colleagues from the CIS and representatives of employers and the State authorities attended the forum. Grigory Rapota, the Secretary of the Union State, welcomed the forum participants.
