Union State awards are presented at the Listapad film festival

The results of the 20th Listapad Minsk International Film Festival have been decided. On 8 November the special prizes of the Permanent Committee of the Union State and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State were awarded to the documentary and feature films ‘The Role’, ‘Why am I here’ and ‘My Distance’.

The ‘Library of future’ starts work in Minsk

An innovative Mobile Library project has opened in Minsk. Visitors to the library will not have to fill in library cards or return books to the library. The mobile library provides for the downloading any of 800 masterpieces of Belarusian, Russian and world literature, along with many children's books.

The Listapad ends in Minsk

The 20th Listapad International Film Festival, which was held in Minsk between 1 and 8 November, has ended. The closing ceremony of this, the largest cultural event of Europe, included the presentations of the main awards and took place in the Palace of the Republic.

Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia - a new project by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation is implementing a new large-scale project aimed at strengthening the historical, spiritual and cultural relations between our brotherly countries. On 10 November 2013 the ceremonial opening of ‘Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia’ will be held in the Belarusian State Philharmonic Hall in Minsk.

The international festival of organ music opens in Polotsk

The 18th International Festival of Organ Music: ‘St. Sophia’s Bells’, will be held in Polotsk between 3 and 8 November. This traditional music forum has opened up opportunities for audiences to visit the historic Concert Hall in St. Sophia Cathedral, to watch performances by of world-renowned musicians and also to discover new artists.

Nikolay Burlyaev plans to organise the Zolotoy Vityaz Slavic Arts Forum in Belarus in 2015

The famous film actor, director and the People's Artist of Russia, Nikolay Burlyaev who is also President of the Arts forum, and International Communications Secretary for the Russian Union of Cinematographers, , has told media representatives that Belarus may host the Zolotoy Vityaz (Golden Knight) Slavic Arts Forum in 2015.

The 20th Listapad International Film Festival is opens in Minsk

On 1 November the 20th Listapad Minsk International Film Festival, one of the largest film festivals of the year, was opened at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk. A range of interesting films including the award winners from the major and most prestigious film festivals of Europe and the CIS countries will be presented at the festival.

Belarusian and Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra ends its 2013 tour

The Belarusian and Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra completed its concert season in Kaluga on 4 November. The orchestra gave its final concert at the Taneev Concert Hall. The Belarusian and Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra was founded by the Permanent Committee of Union State with the Belarusian and Russian Ministries of Culture.

Between 1 and 9 November 2013 the 20th anniversary Listapad Minsk International Film Festival, the most important Film Forum in Belarus, will be held in Minsk. On 2 November the Listapadzik Children's and Youth Film Competition will be opened as part of the festival.

Belarus will present ‘The Role’, a film by famous director Konstantin Lopushansky (a student of Andrey Tarkovsky) during the main fiction films competition as part of the 20th anniversary Listapad Minsk International Film Festival which will be held between 1 and 9 November 2013.

Between 1 and 9 November 2013 Minsk will host the 20th anniversary Listapad Minsk International Film Festival, the most important Film Forum in Belarus. People will watch the best films of the last two years - documentary films which have received international recognition, debut films from the most promising author, children's films and the world's greatest classic films.

Painting by famous Belarusian artist is brought back to the Motherland

The first painting by the famous 19th century Belarusian artist, Walenty Wankowicz, called ‘The Portrait of poet Tomasz Zan’ has been brought back to Belarus. Experts from the State Russian Museum confirmed the authenticity of the painting and its great artistic and historical value.

Minsk hosts the ‘Sovereign Glas’ Festival of Belarusian Orthodox Chants

The Festival of Orthodox Chants took place in the Church of the ‘Sovereign’ Icon of the Mother of God (St. Elizabeth's Convent) in Minsk. With the blessing of the Minsk Metropolitan and Slutsky Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus, the festival is organised twice a year: after Easter and after the Feast of the Intercession.

The final of the ‘Best Lesson in Literature’ 11th all-Russia competition took place in the Concert Hall of the Palace of Children’s (Youth) Creativity on 17 October. Students from Class 6 B of the Grigory Bruev school in Moscow won first place in the category: ‘Russia and Belarus - Brothers since the old days’.

People’s tradition is a way to future

Tradition is a very delicate thing. It can be broken with ease. However it is difficult to revive, strengthen and transmit traditions to the younger generation. This is important for those who truly love their Motherland. One man of God said that patriotism is the love of one’s forefathers’ faith. We would like to add that it is also a love of the traditions set up by our forefathers.
