Belarus develops a system for the popularisation of reading

During the awards ceremony for the winners of the ‘Bridge of Friendship’ competition for young writers from the Union State, Boris Svetlov, the Minister of Culture of Belarus, said that, as part of the ‘Year of the Book’, the Ministries of Culture, Education and Information of Belarus and the Union of Writers of Belarus had developed a system to popularise reading in the Republic.

2,370 workers migrated from Belarus to Russia in the first half of 2013

2,370 migrant workers migrated from Belarus to Russia in the first half of 2013, as a result of agreements and contracts. Alexander Tatura, the Deputy Head of the Department for Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, reported this at the expert seminar ‘Labour Migration in the Union State: Status and Prospects’.

The Union State bison breeding programme to provide a safety net for the species

The implementation of the Union State programme focussing on providing an ideal habitat for the European bison, in order to guarantee for its long-term presence (Roadmap for Bison) in 2014-2018, will provide an additional safety net for the species. Mikhail Nikiforov, the Director General of the Sci-Tech Centre for Bioresources under the National Academy of Sciences, reported this to BELTA at the 8th CIS Forum of Creative and Academic Intellectuals.

Belarusian and Russian centre for cell-technology to open in Minsk

Lyudmila Dubovskaya, the Director of the Institute for Biophysics and Cell Engineering at the Belarus National Academy of Sciences, has told journalists that the International Scientific Medical Centre for Cell-technology will become operational in Minsk in 2015. She said that the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering is currently working on two important research and practical projects.

111 submissions for a joint Belaruian and Kazakhstani tendering invitation for sci-tech projects

A joint Belarusian and Kazakhstani sci-tech tendering invitation has attracted 111 submissions. Amongst these are 35 applications by the State Committee for Science and Technology and 76 from the Committee for Science of the Education and Science Ministry of Kazakhstan. This was announced by Igor Voitov, the Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, at a meeting of the Belarus and Kazakhstan Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
