On November 25th State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin visited the exhibition of Valentin Sidorov, People's Artist of USSR and laureate of Union State Prize. The exposition opened at the Tretyakov Gallery in the middle of November is timed to the eightieth birthday of the painter. The display is called “Gori, Gori yasno” (“Shine, shine brightly”).

The master himself showed the State Secretary round the exhibition halls where the paintings were displayed giving interesting commentaries to each of his works. Round some of the paintings, such as “Spring. High sky”, “On warm earth”, “Evening. Hay is cocked”, “At the beginning of May”, the artist and his personal high-ranking excursionist lingered long. In particular, Valentin Sidorov explained that the name of the exhibition was not accidental: “To shine brightly means to live brightly. I have been following this rule for all these years both in my life and my creative work”. And it is true that every work of the master (most of them are rural views) is rich in light, the audience can see the warmth and kindness literally oozing from every painting.

Having concluded the round, Pavel Borodin said that “such exhibitions today when Russia is being restored to life are urgent as never before: they arouse even more love for one's native country, for ancestral land and home where we have grown up”. “The art of Valentin Sidorov is very close to me and my family,” he added. “I have a lot of children and grandchildren and we attend exactly such exhibitions ignoring different pop, so called trendy ones.

The exhibition “Gori, Gori yasno” (“Shine, shine brightly”) will last at the Tretyakov Gallery till December 14th.
