Union State contest gathered schoolchildren in Smolensk

On October, 27 Union State schoolchildren contest “Russia and Belarus is a historical and spiritual community” started. 10- and 11-grade students take part in the creative competition that is taking place in Smolensk these days. The organizers of the contest are Union State Permanent committee and Russian and Belarusian ministries of education.

On October, 27 Union State schoolchildren contest “Russia and Belarus is a historical and spiritual community” started. 10- and 11-grade students take part in the creative competition that is taking place in Smolensk these days. The organizers of the contest are Union State Permanent committee and Russian and Belarusian ministries of education.

According to the Smolensk district administration press-service, first it was planned to hold the contest in Belgorod but as a result the priority has been given to Smolensk state university.

There are 26 teams participating in the contest, 7 of them are Belarusian. Altogether there are about 200 participants. The contest goes through two stages: first the participants are competing in the knowledge of literature and art of the both countries and then –in the knowledge of Russian language. Besides, creative contests are held for rhetoricians, readers, and literature and art connoisseurs.

The winners will be determined by jury, which consists of the leading lecturers, famous scientists and teachers from Russia and Belarus. Following the results of the contest it is planned to publish a collection of the best works of the participants.

The Contest will last till October, 31.
