Social policy remains one of the Union State priorities

About 20 social events covering also the spheres of culture and education are planned for 2008. In the sphere of social policy in the current year it is planned to finance with the Union budget the organization of treatment and health improvement of children from the regions of Belarus and Russia that most suffered from the Chernobyl disaster and also the organization of treatment at a health resort of disabled people and Great Patriotic War veterans. Apart from that N.Kononova added that at present the third program on Chernobyl disaster consequences overcoming for 2006-2010 is being implemented. It should be pointed out that total amount of financing makes up 1 billion and 200 million Russian roubles. For the past years the most updated technologies have been worked out and implemented for early detection of treatment and rehabilitation of the victims and popular science collections have been prepared that helps the people subjected to the Chernobyl disaster influence.

The organization of treatment at a health resort for disabled people and GPW veterans has been realized since 2003. According to official information the amount of financing of the project has increased by more than 10 times for the past 5 years. Annually not less than 600 disabled people and GPW veterans are sent for the treatment to the best sanatoriums of Belarus and Russian Federation. “We are trying to broaden the geography of project participation”, - specified N.Kononova.

Apart from that Union State Sports contest and pupils Competition “Russia and Belarus is a historical and spiritual community” and a whole range of other forums and festivals aimed at integration process development are held. N.Kononova said also that the final stage of Competition-2008 will take place in October, 27-31 in Smolensk.
