At the press conference in Moscow Anatoliy Lokot, member of the State Duma Committee on local government issues at the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee on economic policy, said that the support Belarus gave to Russia in the crisis situation with South Ossetia was really significant. “Many thanks to Belarusians, we feel their support at this hard time,” said the parliamentarian. At the same time, in Russia itself, the events taking place in South Ossetia haven’t left anybody, any political powers indifferent.
The parliamentarian believes that consolidation and development of the Union State have become vital after Georgia-South Ossetian conflict that has occurred recently. “At present the issue of the Union State is a burning one. It is an issue which determines our nations’ and states’ existence”.
