Anatoli Lokots: Belarus-Russia dialogue on an absolutely new level

Union formation makes no progress because the agreements between Belarus and Russia concluded in different spheres are not considered to be Union State laws, said Anatoli Lokots. It is so, according to the parliamentarian, because Union State hasn’t established itself as an institution yet. “At the same time today it is senseless to deny the achievements that take place in the mutual integration, in the close relations of our states. The turnover that exceeds $20 mln as nothing else indicates that Belarus and Russia need each other”, - pointed out Anatoli Lokots.

Apart from that today Union State formation is experiencing qualitative changes. The dialogue between Belarus and Russia has gone over to an absolutely new level that is indicated according to the parliamentarian by the meeting of the Presidents of Belarus and Russia Alexander Lukashenko and Dmitri Medvedev that took place on June, 22 in Brest as well as the level of the Russian delegation representation at the recent festival “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk-2008” in the composition of which were the head of the Russian President’s administration Sergei Naryshkin and the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Russia Sergei Stepashin. “This indicates that in the end it will result in the Union State Constitutional Act adoption, - believes Anatoli Lokots. – And today it is the main question in the Union State formation”.
