If there had been no Union State, Russia and Belarus would have never achieved such success in mutual cooperation, stated Frants Klintsevich, First Deputy Chairman of Russian State Duma Committee for Veteran Affairs, deputy of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly. In his opinion, the two states wouldn’t have ever achieved the present level of bilateral trade.
At the same time, Frants Klintsevich subscribed to the opinion that the process of the Union State formation is a little protracted. First of all it concerns the issue of the Constitutional Act adoption. The parliamentarian believes that both sides are to be blamed for this delay.
However, according to Frants Klintsevich, the assertion that if there is no Constitutional Act, then there is no Union State is unfounded.
“Actually, the union State exists and today it carries out a lot of serious work,” stated Frants Klintsevich.
Yet he thinks that to form the Union State today we should act more resolutely, take more decisive steps, though there are various kinds of circumstances – both objective and subjective, which prevent us from taking these steps.
