Oleg Velichko: the reason for such a long discussion of Constitutional Act lies in certain approaches to Union State formation

The reason for such a long discussion of Constitutional Act lies in certain approaches to the very Union State formation, said Oleg Velichko, the Union State Parliamentary Assembly deputy, in the exclusive interview for Information Analysis Portal of the Union State.

In particular, in his opinion, for Belarus it is a principal thing to save its independence and its sovereignty within the scopes of Union State and after the final part of its formation. It means that Belarus must “be an equal right member of this state, and not as it was proposed, as you remember, to enter the union in the capacity of a province, in the capacity of another municipality of Russia”.

The process of Constitutional Act discussion, as Oleg Velichko believes, is inherently a very complicated and very long one.

“For that very reason we mustn’t be in a hurry”, - pointed out the parliamentarian.

But with any outcome of the discussion of the Union integration fundamental document, believes O.Velichko, economic ties between Belarus and Russia will not only remain but also develop.

“And politics probably must endure this Constitutional Act not to make a mistake”, believes O.Velichko.
