In the course of the big annual press conference held in the Round Audience Chamber of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, stated that formation of the Union State together with Belarus is an undoubted priority for Russian international relations.

“We are ready to go as far as our Belarusian partners want. First of all, to my mind, integration in economy sector should be at issue,” stated the Head of the Russian State. Among the top priority tasks, which Belarus and Russia have set themselves, is the creation of unified currency. The states wanted to come to settling accounts in terms of Russian rubles as unified currency.

“Today, when Russian financial system is as stable as never before, I am fully confident that for Belarusian economy and Belarusians there is nothing but pluses in such scenario. But I would like to repeat that it can be implemented only if our Belarusian partners want. We are not going to impose anything here,” noted the President of Russia.

Touching upon the problems in social sphere and customs relations Vladimir Putin noted that a great deal had already been done but we are to do even more.

“It is necessary to unify customs tariffs. We should create such conditions which will give no reason to think that sometimes in Moscow and sometimes in Minsk some unapproved decisions in economy sector are taken,” stated the Head of the Russian State.

“On the whole, we have a lot to work on and, of course, will take action in this area. Moreover, I am sure that after the 2^nd March no changes will take place in Russian foreign policy with respect to Belarus,” he added.
