B.Gryzlov: Last year the priority orientation of the Parliamentary Assembly activity was the search for solutions of integration problems in economy field.

The regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State will be held in Moscow on the 14th February. This is the first session this year. On the threshold of this event, Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State, characterized the results of the Assembly’s work in 2007 in the following way:

- Last year the priority orientation of the Parliamentary Assembly activity was the search for solutions of integration problems in economy field. Parliamentarians were the initiators of the search for optimal models of integration acceleration. A special meeting of Duma’s Council was called to examine these issues. So, as early as in March we signed an intergovernmental agreement on measures for the development of trade and economic cooperation. Its execution is controlled by the Council of Ministers of the Union State. Besides that, we took under rigid control the use of budgetary funds, determined the procedure concerning the solution of industrial cooperation problems, cooperation in energy, customs, transport and food spheres. These issues should be settled by joint working groups lead by deputy heads of corresponding ministries and departments of the two countries.
