At I Slavonic International Economic Forum which was held in Bryansk the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Boris Gryzlov said that one can observe an appreciable progress in relations between Belarus and Russia.

“As regards Belarusian-Russian relations, I’d like to stress that Belarus and Russia have formed the Union State which exists and develops in actuality,” he said.

According to the speaker of Russian Duma, union programmes are the main indicator of improvement: at present about 40 union programmes and events are advanced from the union budget. The authorities have carried out much work to ensure citizens’ equal rights; defence and security issues are being successfully resolved.

At the same time, B.Gryzlov noted that “recently the relations between Russia and Ukraine have become rather complicated”. “The reason for this is the policy of present Ukrainian leaders which we, as a matter of fact, can’t call a friendly one,” he noted.

According to him, it is sufficient just to look at “the stubborn desire of Ukraine to see itself in NATO”. “The activities of Ukrainian authorities aimed to sow discord between our nations is a deadlock for Ukraine,” said B.Gryzlov.
