All the events scheduled for 2009 by Parliamentary Assembly Commission on social policy, science, culture and humanitarian issues appear to be peculiar steps towards closer relations between Belarus and Russia. That was said by Vladimir Zdanovich, the chairman of the Permanent commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on education, culture, science and scientific and technical progress, during his talk with a www.soyuz.by correspondent.

The main direction of the joint work of Belarusian and Russian parliamentarians will undoubtedly become legislative activity. “In 2009 a great work on improvement and development of certain draft programs is planned. I would remind that at present there already exist projects on formation and development of common educational space, on harmonization of legislation in social sphere and social and work security; at the same time in the sphere of culture and art they work on creation of common information space. There is also a range of proposals on common sport and tourism development”, -explain the deputy.

In particular, according to V.Zdanovich, they continue to work over the formation of common education space. “There are still differences in terms of entering educational establishments since there was a certain time when Belarus and Russia held their own way, - he pointed out. – Besides there is difference in entrance rules in universities and colleges, in approaches to job placements of graduates and in the composition of classifier of specialties. We are working over the harmonization of common positions”.

Meanwhile V.Zdanovich clarified that even with the ready union program it doesn’t mean it will be implemented for example within a month. “A lot depends on program executors. But since the information and proposals go mainly from ministries of our two countries there are no particular difficulties in cooperation with them”, - said the parliamentarian.

Making comments on specific activities of the commission that will take place in 2009 within the scopes of Union State, V.Zdanovich pointed out that deputies will take part in the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and in the preparation to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of Great Victory, in the events dedicated to the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus and in the conference “The state and development of high education within Union State”.

Besides traditionally Days of Slavic script and culture– this time in Saratov, festival “Slavyanski bazar in Vitebsk”, International cinema forum “Zolotoi Vityaz”, Minsk international cinema festival “Listopad” within the framework of which Union State award is given annually and also a range of other events will be held.

Speaking about the importance of the festival “Youth is for Union State” scheduled to be held in September in Rostov-on-Don, V.Zdanovich underlined that such forums promote the development of intergenerational continuity.

The work over the creation of the first Union State patriotic movie “Brest fortress” will be continued.

Meanwhile V.Zdanivich pointed out that more close relations between ministries and parliamentarian commissions will allow simplifying significantly the procedure of union programs coordination.
