A. Surikov: Meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union State can be held in January-February 2011

Meeting of the Supreme State Council (SSC) of the Union State, which includes the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Dmitry Medvedev and Alexander Lukashenko, could take place in January-February 2011, Alexander Surikov Russian Ambassador to Belarus said. “I think it will take place soon, sometime in January or February. And the agenda will be full of content.” According to Surikov, it is planned to discuss "a number of agreements on military-technical cooperation, which must be approve," in the course of the meeting of the SSC. Let us recall, on December 9 the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia approved the Union State budget for 2011. 40% of the budget will be spent on the implementation of innovative programs within the Union State. Revenues and expenditures will amount to 4 billion 872 million rubles. In this case, the revenue part of the Russian budget will reach 3 billion 167 million rubles and in Belarus - 1 billion 705 million rubles. The expenditure budget provides funding for 42 programs and activities. While 26% will be spend on the military-technical cooperation, providing law enforcement and security of the Union State, 17% are reserved for social policy, health and physical culture, ecology, and disaster management, education, culture and media.
