Ivan Makushok Commented on the Dramatic Events in Belarus

Ivan Makushok Press Secretary of the Union State Secretary commented on the dramatic events in Belarus: Did the opposition behave correctly by organizing actions before the election results were known? - I would not associate the actions of vandalism to the elections. The opposition lost elections even before they began. They failed to present a strong candidate; their candidates looked lightweight and not ready on air. Maybe they did not expect such a gift as the possibility to deliver on air? Anyway, the considerable superiority of Lukashenko was obvious even to them, and they wanted to attract even those who decided to vote against everyone. This is a question of a second subordination. I saw what was happening their, it was unworthy and unreasonable. Thus, the opposition once again proved that it can not have a fair play. Was the use of force by the authorities adequate or excessive? - When individual members of the opposition began to raid the house of the Government, the use of force became inevitable. The reaction would be the same in any country. Rapid application of force saves from bloodshed. The crowd was driven away quite professionally, and there were no serious casualties, although around 60 police officers were injured, no doubt, there are people who were affected among the demonstrators as well. Provocations were prepared; cars with grinding recess were arrested. The so-called opposition had an aim to shed blood. But it was prevented. According to the newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets”
