Union State budget-2011 will be increase to 5.6 billion Russian rubles. 90% of the budgetary funds will go on financing 45 union programmes and activities, said State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin at the V Forum on Draft Union State Programmes.

According to him, in 2010 alone more than 20 programmes as well as education, culture, sports, ecology and environmental protection activities are being implemented using Union State budget funds. Union State programmes made it possible to create 5 million jobs at 26 thousand enterprises in Belarus and Russia.

Pavel Borodin also noted that since the establishment of the Union State, trade turnover between Belarus and Russia has quintupled. Within the first 9 months of 2010 sales volume between the two countries totalled 19.4 billion dollars, which is 20% more as against last year’s index. 85% of the flow of goods from Europe to Russia goes via Belarus. The State Secretary of the Union State thereupon brought forward a proposal to create a transport corridor that could ensure 1.5-2 million new jobs in Belarus and about 18-20 million jobs in Russia.

“All Union State programmes and activities illustrate the way we can renew the post-Soviet area,” believes Pavel Borodin. “First and foremost, we need a convential basis which will be the foundation for union formation. But reconstruction is feasible only in the form of confederal union,” summed up the Union State Secretary.

We would remind you that Forum on Union Programs has been held annually since 2006 by the Standing Committee of the Union State together with the Secretariat of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly with the participation of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation.
