Today in the State Duma the leader of the Novosibirsk communists, deputy Anatoly Lokots, offered to listen to the report of the minister of energy Sergey Shmatko. The thing is that the president of the Republic of Belarus sent a letter to Anatoly Lokots stating his view on the gas supplies to Belarus. The first secretary of the regional committee of the communist party believes the conflict is treated on the different levels. In the Russian Federation – on the level of PC “Gasprom” and in Belarus - on the level of the top figures of the state.
“I offer to include in the agenda the report of the minister of energy Sergey Shmatko concerning the gas conflict between Russia and Belarus, - Anatoly Lokots said, - The public opinion in Russia formed by mass media is one-sided to some extended. Some deputies, I think, Boris Vecheslavovich as well, received letters from the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenka, pointing the facts which are difficult to answer. The reason of the problem is that in Russia the problem is treated by “Gasprom” and in Belarus by the first figures of the state. That is my reason to include the issue in the agenda of the higher level, for example plenary meeting of the State Duma. The union of the two countries is under discussion.”
The majority in the State Duma didn’t support the proposal and in this way the public attitude towards the opinion of the president of Belarus was expressed as well as indifference towards the question on the state of the Union between the countries.
