Another press tour around Belarus organized for Russian journalists has come to an end. During the tour the representatives of Russian regional and national press visited Brest and Minsk.

Press tours for Russian journalists have already become a traditional event for Belarus. Every press tour has a theme and helps Russian reporters to get acquainted with various aspects of economic, social and political life of Belarus.

This year the key-note of the tour has been the premier of the film “Brest Fortress” which took place on the night of June, 21st-22nd in the Brest Fortress. The premiere of “Brest Fortress” is the first link in the chain of events dedicated to the tragic date of the Great Patriotic War outbreak. Russian journalists were among the first viewers of this film. Besides them the premiere was attended by the filmmakers, officials and, of course, war veterans.

After the screening, the chairman of the TV-Radio Broadcasting Organization of the Union state, who is also the producer of the film, Igor Ugolnikov invited those present to fill a soldier’s helmet at the memorial “Thirst” with water. Acute shortage of drinking water was one of those terrible ordeals that fell to the lot of the immortal garrison.

On the second day of the tour the representatives of Russian mass media met with Leonid Tsuprik, Deputy Chairman of Brest regional executive committee. Talking to journalists L.Tsuprik informed them about the guidelines of economic and social policies of Brest region as well as answered all the questions of the reporters.

As noted by the journalists themselves, they enjoyed the visit to Brest. The stay of Russian journalists in Brest was concluded by a familiarization walk around the city.

Galina Zvereva, “Tambov Courier”: “I really liked the press tour. I was very pleased to see Brest. I have already been to Brest, but that time it was autumn. So, Brest in summer appealed to me very much, it is a very cosy city, which doesn’t yield to Minsk at all. It has a sort of its own, special charm”.
