On April 22nd Minsk and Moscow were united by a video bridge "Victory in the Great Patriotic War – a high spot in the history of Belarus and Russia”, which was initiated by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

Opening the space bridge, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly Alexander Babakov noted that summing up some kind of results on the eve of the great date was not the objective of the event. “It is just one more opportunity for all of us to remind ourselves how much we owe to our grandfathers and fathers for that Victory,” he said.

Since the video bridge was held on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, the participants discussed a number of important topics related to this event: social protection of veterans in Russia and Belarus; Union State events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War; counteraction against the attempts to rewrite the results of World War II; military-patriotic education of Russian and Belarusian youth and many other issues.

Representatives of the Union State Standing Committee, Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia as well as veterans of the Great Patriotic War took part in the work of the video bridge.
