On Friday, October 21st Minsk hosted a round-table discussion on the Union State Prize in Literature and Art. Opening the meeting, its participants observed a minute's silence in tribute to the memory of TRO Soyuz journalists who lost their lives the day before.
At the beginning of his speech Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Ivan Bambiza stressed that the Union State award is highly significant. “We devote so much attention to this prize as it is rather substantial and the people putting the ideas of the Union State into life do deserve a high appraisal of their activities”.
At the same time, Ivan Bambiza noted that the award of the Union State should be directed to support joint projects, as they better than others fit with the prize regulations.
Deputy State Secretary believes that the nomination should include joint projects, but to do it they need to be implemented. Creative groups of Belarus and Russia should set to it and submit relevant proposals to the Ministries of Culture of the two countries.
Addressing the audience, Ivan Bambiza brought up such a pressing issue as the involvement of creative people among the youth. According to him, one of the prizes might be presented to a young author or group, but, at first, it is necessary to work out the prize regulations.
