The Day of the Union State was held on July 10th within the framework of the XX international arts festival “Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk”.
The Union State Day was opened by Union State Secretary Pavel Borodin, who together with Union parliamentarians laid flowers and wreaths to the Eternal Flame at the Victory Square as well as met with veterans of the Great Patriotic War. He also took part in the ceremony of handing over buses to the representatives of Velikoletchanski orphanage and Senno boarding school which he visited last year. Pavel Borodin also took part in the traditional press conference at the international press center of the festival.
Then the representatives of the Union State Standing Committee and parliamentarians met with the nominees for the Union State Literature and Art Award 2011-2012 as well as visited one of the military units of Vitebsk garrison.
The finishing touch of the Union State Day was a gala concert that was held in the evening in Summer Amphitheatre.
“Slavonic Bazaar” demonstrates that we lived, live and will live together,” said Pavel Borodin addressing the participants and spectators of the concert.
Besides that, before the beginning of the concert a message of greetings to festival participants and audience sent by Union State Parliamentary Assembly Chairman and Russian Federation Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov was announced. In his welcoming address “Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk” was called “a prestigious forum for representatives of different cultures”.
At the beginning of the concert, Pavel Borodin presented diplomas of the Union State Standing Committee “For creative embodiment of ??friendship between peoples of Belarus and Russia” to a number of cultural figures of the two countries. Among them were chief director of Belarusian State Philharmonic Nina Osipova, Honored Artist of Russia Varvara, folk music group “Byaseda” and Belarusian music and song group from Russian Novosibirsk “Belye Rosy”.
At the end of the festival ensemble “Syabry”, Aleksandra Pakhmutova, Nikolai Dobronravov, Jadwiga Poplavskaya and Alexander Tikhonovich, Irina Dorofeeva, Ruslan Alekhno, Eduard Khanok, Varvara, Kim Breidburg, ensemble “Samotsvety” and many other artists took part in the gala concert called “Syabry” Invite Friends”.
