In 2011 trade turnover between Belarus and Russia will exceed $ 40 billion, expressed confidence State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin on July 9th at the meeting with Chairman of Vitebsk regional executive committee Aleksandr Kosinets.
“For the first quarter of this year the turnover between our countries totaled $11 billion. By the end of the year it will exceed $ 40 billion,” said Pavel Borodin, noting that Russia lacks such developed economic relations even with some big countries.
He reminded that at present new joint programmes in such fields as shoe manufacturing, construction, production of agricultural equipment, trams and trolleybuses as well as other areas are being discussed. “Their implementation will contribute to further strengthening of Belarusian-Russian economic relations,” said Pavel Borodin.
Aleksandr Kosinets noted that Vitebsk region is open to consider any new projects and proposals. So, now, for example, they are considering a project worth $3.5 billion. With the participation of a Russian investor they want to build a petrochemical plant. “We are interested in building new production facilities and logistics centers, in developing our industry,” summarized the governor, stressing that the positive dynamics of region’s development makes it possible to look ahead with confidence and make plans for the future.
It should be noted that GDP growth in Vitebsk region in January-May reached 113% this year as against the same period last year, stocks ratio against the average monthly production volume made up 32% while productivity and industrial output increased.
