The 11th meeting of the Interstate Interagency Working Group aimed to develop a coordinated immigration policy within the Union State is closing on August 8th in Minsk. As is reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the main purpose of the meeting was to develop common approaches to migration policy and problem-solving ensuring equal rights of citizens on the territory of the Union State.
During the meeting, the representatives of state run public authorities exchanged information about some changes in legislation and discussed bilateral projects providing for a common refusal of entry to the Union State territory for the nationals of third countries, as well as exchange of data about persons restricted to exit from the country. Besides that, the participants of the meeting considered a separate set of issues related to the resistance and struggle against illegal migration, crime-prevention operations “Illegal Immigrant”. Belarusian and Russian experts also raised the topic of improving the mechanism ensuring equal rights of both countries’ citizens, freedom of movement, and the possibility to choose the place of temporary and permanent residence on the territory of the Union State.
