Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Belarus, co-chairman of the Union State Writers’ Union Nikolai Cherginets informed www.soyuz.by what the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia means to him personally, and what its role, as a holiday, is.

This holiday is very important for me as I directly participate in the preparation of all contracts and protocols establishing the Union State. I was present at the signing of the union treaty in the Kremlin.

The integration process is not easy and at times gives rise to anxiety, but the thought that there may not be a union between the two countries and two peoples has never crossed my mind.

I can say with certainty that integration is a matter of immense significance, and that it will be very successful. It accords with the interests of the society which consists of ordinary people.

Within the framework of the Union State, we have prospects for strengthening economic cooperation with Russia. Many problems are settled in favor of common people and citizens. Convincing evidence of this is a decrease in energy prices. Our people feel growing confidence in the propriety of the Union State.
