Belarus is ready to extend actively the directions of cooperation with Novgorod district of Russia, said A.Lukashenko at the meeting with S.Mitin, the governor of this region.
A.Lukashenko made special mention of a sufficiently high mutual trade volume between Belarus and Novgorod district. In 2007 the turnover reached $100, 6 mln (that is the 35th place among regions of Russia) and increased by 12, 6 % in comparison with the last year. For the 4 months of this year the turnover made up $35, 3 mln and increased by 19, 5 % in comparison with the same period in 2007. Meanwhile the export of Belarus accounted for $15, 1 mln and increased by 84, 2 %.
In the judgment of the Head of the State we have potential for trade relations growth.
“There may be more than $100 mln of turnover though the level we have now is also not bad. With some countries we have the same turnover as we have with the district of Russia alone”, - said President.
According to the Head of the State Belarusian side is satisfied with the proposals made by this Russian region about the further development of the bilateral relations. In particular there is a common interest in forest and timber and turf reprocessing.
Sergei Mitin in his turn pointed out that he visited Belarus not for the first time and is pleasantly surprised with the changes that are taking place in the country. During the visit the delegation visited some agricultural and industrial units and also made a range of agreements, in particular between Minsk and Novgorod districts on direct products deliveries.
According to the governor, Novgorod district is interested in the purchase of Belarusian equipment, highly productive cattle and stock seeds. Particularly Russian region is ready to purchase Belarusian equipment for housing and communal services, highway engineering, timber reprocessing, agriculture as well as buses and mobile commercial pavilions. As Sergei Mitin said specialists are already arranging direct deliveries of the equipment that is manufactured specially for the conditions in Novgorod district.
In its turn this Russian region continues to supply Belarus directly with chemical fertilizer and to extend cooperation in the sphere of logistics.
