MFA: the Attack on the Embassy of Russia is directed against the Belarusian-Russian Relations

Last night in Minsk a hooligan attack was committed on the Russian Embassy. "We note with concern and indignation about the incident at the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The criminal bullying is directed against common sense and the Belarusian-Russian relations. We expect that those guilty will be severely punished in accordance with the law "- such a statement was made by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

Attackers threw two Molotov cocktails into the building of the Russian Embassy. At present the initiation of proceedings on the criminal case is being decided upon. Fortunately none of the staff of the Russian diplomatic mission was injured. According to witnesses, one of the official vehicles on the territory of the Embassy was burned.

This incident is puzzling and troubling, because due to hooliganism, motivation of which is still not clear, relations between Minsk and Moscow can be affected. In this situation we shall just hope that the perpetrators will soon be found and brought to justice.

I would like to express my hope that the Russian side will interpret the incident in a right way and the relations between the closest allies would not worsen. Relations between the two nations should not suffer because of the hooligan actions.
