Duma creates resonant laws
The regular session of State Duma of the Russian Federation has ended and the Deputies are on vacation. However analysts and political scientists are continuing to analyse the outcomes of the Duma activities for the year. Their assessments are contradictory. The spring session of the State Duma will be remembered for its several concurrent initiatives which have been particularly criticised. Notably, according to Fontanka.ru, these were principally a range of prohibitions e.g. those against adoption, smoking or the ownership of foreign accounts.

The Union Parliament will take part in a conference on scientific and practical issues in the development of the Union State
From 3 - 5 July the IX Meeting of the Inter-Academy Council of Russia and Belarus, on issues of the development of the Union State, will be held in Vologda. The programme of events at the meeting includes holding an International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Integration of the structure of the Union State as a Key Tool in the Implementation of the Security Policies of Russia and Belarus".

Belarusian deputies ratified a document on the exchange of land plots with Russia
The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus adopted a Draft Law on Ratification of the Protocol between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation to the Agreement between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on the Mutual Transfer into Ownership and Lease of Land Plots, dated 26 May 2009.

S.Naryshkin: “The Union State is a leader of Eurasian integration processes”
The Union State has become a leader of the Eurasian integration processes thanks to the experience gained over the years of Belarusian-Russian cooperation. This opinion was expressed by Chairman of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly Sergei Naryshkin during the round-table discussion at the international forum “Eurasian Economic Prospects”.
