Statehood of Belarus as a member-country of the Union State should be taken into account when determining the cost of energy resources delivered to Belarus, believes Deputy Chairman of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, Vice-Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov.

He said that in this connection the approach to prices for export products delivered to Belarus should be as flexible as possible. “Executive authorities should receive a clear signal from legislators that when solving problems which every ministry or industry faces one should not forget where exactly this or that product is exported,” stressed Vice-Speaker of Russian State Duma.

A.Babakov believes that “market interest is not always the only interest that characterizes intergovernmental economic relations as under existing global financial crisis “one must understand that the market is not able to regulate everything on its own”. Therefore, “as far as state interference in these areas is inevitable, it is here that the answer to the question about reasonable prices lies”.
