In 2008 Russia Remained Main Trade Partner of Belarus

As is reported by the National Statistical Committee, in 2008 Belarus conducted trade and economic operations with 183 countries, exporting its produce to 139 foreign markets and importing from 168 states.

As is reported by the National Statistical Committee, in 2008 Belarus conducted trade and economic operations with 183 countries, exporting its produce to 139 foreign markets and importing from 168 states.

The list of 10 main trade partners of the Republic of Belarus is as follows: Russia ranks first with a turnover share of 47.2%, followed by the Netherlands (8.2%), Ukraine (6.8%), Germany (5%), Poland (4.1%), Latvia (3.2%), China (2.8%) and the United Kingdom (2.4%). The list of main trade and economic partners is concluded by Brazil and Italy.

Besides that, over the year 2008 Belarus has increased foreign trade turnover with other countries. As compared to 2007 the volume of foreign commodity trade grew by 36.7% which is equivalent to $72,385 billion. Export and import increased by 35 . 5% и 37 . 6% , respectively.

It should be noted that trade and economic operations with our main commercial partner which is Russia also showed a steady growth trend. In 2008 Belarus exported to Russia by 19.2% more merchandize than in 2007 which amounted to 32.2% of total exports volume.
