Belarus has been a part of the Customs Union since January 1st, 2010, said Vice-Premier of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov responding to reporters’ questions within the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to the high-ranking Belarusian official, for that very reason all the talk that because of some disagreement Belarus will ignore the work of the integration formation, scheduled to start from July 1st, 2010, is absolutely unfounded.

At the same time the current Customs Union is a logical continuation of pre-existing on the post-Soviet area integration structures.

“We all remember that as far back as in 1995 Belarus and Russia signed an agreement on Customs Union formation,” noted the Vice-Premier of Belarus.
