Disputes between Belarusian and Russian economic entities are mainly customs and tax ones, said during the press conference “Current trends in economic justice in Belarus and Russia” Head of the Supreme Court of Arbitration of the Russian Federation Anton Ivanov.
According to him, “all commercial disputes filed by Belarusian economic entities and arbitrated in commercial courts in Russia can be divided into three categories:
- disputes related to international shipping and losses incurred during the process of transportation;
- customs disputes related to customs duties;
- tax ones related to levy of the VAT.
In his turn, Chairman of the Supreme Commercial Court of Belarus Viktor Kamenkov confirmed that Russian economic entities file similar claims in Belarusian courts.
“Here, I would add only contractual disputes arising from breach of various agreements,” he summarized.
At the same time, Anton Ivanov drew attention to the fact that according to Russian entrepreneurs, during the proceedings in Belarusian courts they feel equal in rights with their Belarusian colleagues. None of post-Soviet countries can boast of such conditions.
