“West-2009” military exercises have been recognized as safe for NATO courtiers

“West-2009” military exercises carried out by Belarus and Russia in September have been recognized as posing no danger for NATO countries, but at the same time as not contributing to the strengthening of trust between alliance with Moscow. That was reported at the video press conference in “RIA news” by official representative of NATO James Apparthurai.

“First these military exercises didn’t pose any danger for the territory of NATO member states. Secondly, these military exercises were not a measure for strengthening of trust between NATO member-states and Russia in the sense that we would like to develop these relations into cooperation, mutual respect and trust to each other”, - said Apparthurai.

We remind that earlier in November the Minister of foreign affairs of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski stated that he had written a letter to Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the NATO Secretary General, in which he called the alliance to turn attention to Belarusian and Russian military exercises on the territory near the Polish border.
