Russia is planning to enter World Trade Organization independently, not as a member of the customs union with Belarus and Kazakhstan - reported the first vice-premier of the Russian Federation Shuvalov during his visit to the United States.

“Russia will enter as a separate member. Everyone will benefit if Russia enters the WTO before we create a joint market with Belarus and Kazakhstan.

We would remind that the World Trade Organization (WTO) was founded in 1995 aiming at liberalization of the international trade and regulation of the political and trade relations between state-members.

By July 2008 153 states entered the organization. Each of the members is obliged to create a most favored nation basis in trade.

Russia is trying to enter the organization since its foundation (starting from 1986 the USSR was trying to enter GATT).
