Since the President of Ukraine became Viktor Yanukovich we constantly hear about different political forecasts and scenarios. Possibility of Ukraine joining into Customs union or even into Union State together with Belarus and Russia is actively discussed.

So do we need to pay attention to the possible expansion of Union State in the face of Ukraine? Certainly do. Even reliable western political scientists admit that Russia will not be a super state without Ukraine.

This means that Kiev joining together with Minsk and Moscow the Union State will allow not only developing this project but making it geopolitical subject on the political arena not only in Eurasia but in the whole world.

With Ukraine joining Union state the latter will have the market with approximately 200 million potential customers and this is a real impulse for development of economy of its member-states. Ukrainian economy significantly needs resources that it may get within the scopes of single economic space. That will allow Ukraine getting admission to Belarusian markets and that is more important to Russian market as well without brealing of WTO obligations.

Possible entry into State Union will allow Viktor Yuschenko managing such issue of its electioneering as the status of Russian language. Kiev may turn to “Kyrgyz variant” and attach the status of international communication language to the Russian language that will bring it to legal status and will satisfy the nationalists. Such measures will allow cutting Gordian knot of difficult relations of the central authority with Crimea and defining the status of the Black Sea fleet after 2017.

39% of union state budget is spent on common military programs that significantly support the Military industrial complex (MIC) of Belarus and Russia providing the orders. Ukrainian MIC after USSR collapse lost its cooperation relations with Russian plants-satellites that negatively affected this scientific and industrial sector. The revival of these relations will allow making the specialized Ukrainian defense industry competitive again.

Today Union State is a real integration union of Belarus and Russia. Current Ukrainian government stands for revival of strategically important relations with Russia. Under these conditions joining the Union State is not only the opportunity to improve the relations but also an excellent chance to improve economy that means to improve the life of Ukrainian citizens.
