Belarus proposes the UN to revise The World Programme of Action for Youth

In the scope of the meeting of the UN General Assembly High-Level Panel on Youth of the State which took place in UN headquarters In New York, participants discussed further steps to advance the interests of young people. In the course of discussion Vladimir Schastnyy made a statement on Ambassador-at-Large of the Belarus Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO as reported by the press service of Belarus Foreign Ministry to www.soyuz.by.

The event participants were informed about the national efforts in the field of youth policy, as well as international initiatives in Belarus on the issue. The Belarusian diplomat underlined the need for active implementation of UN ideas promoting prosperity for future generations and the forming of a global partnership for Youth Affairs with the participation of governments, youth organizations, nongovernmental organizations and private sector. B. Schastnyy called for the informal thematic debate of the UN to continue the discussion and establish a new framework for international cooperation on youth issues. Offering to consider reviewing the "World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and beyond", the representative of Belarus has expressed views on the advisability of this program add new priority areas that are currently most relevant to young people. In the scope of discussion a final declaration was adopted by the UN General Assembly High-Level Panel on Youth.
