S. Martynov and S. Lavrov discussed a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation

During the working visit of Sergei Martynov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, to the Russian Federation on June 20, a meeting of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov took place in Moscow. Mutual regular visits are part of the agreement of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the interaction of two foreign ministers. The parties discussed a wide range of subject matters of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation mechanisms between the two countries in integrating of structures, prospects of cooperation of the Customs Union with the European Union, as well as the situation in the OSCE and other inter-governmental organizations. The meeting participants noted with satisfaction the agreement of the two countries on issues of forming a unified system of European security, the development of pan-European partnership without dividing lines (including in the humanitarian sphere.) During the talks the main points of the draft Program on concerted actions in the foreign policy of the States Parties were discussed in the framework establishing the Union State for 2012-2013. In particular, it includes measures aimed at further strengthening the union between Belarus and Russia, the protection and promotion of their interests in the international arena, providing favorable external conditions for sustainable socio-economic development of the two states. These documents will be adopted at the annual joint meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in the fourth quarter of 2011 in Moscow.
