In accordance with the agreements reached by the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez, Belarusian builders participate in a large-scale Venezuelan government programme aimed at housing development.
As is reported by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on New Year’s Eve the first 720 apartments built jointly by Belarusian and Venezuelan builders were put into operation in the Venezuelan city of Maracay, state Aragua.
In the months to come another 1,800 apartments, being built among others by Belarusian specialists, will be put into service. The new apartments will accommodate Venezuelan families that lost their shelter during torrential rains at the turn of 2011, as well as the ones in desperate need of shelter.
During a solemn ceremony held to celebrate putting into operation new apartments, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Venezuela Valentin Gurinovich gave a speech. The Belarusian diplomat pointed out the high level of cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela in the area of housing construction and informed the participants of the ceremony that in January 2012 Belarus will complete the construction of a building materials production plant in Guarenas Guatire, Miranda state, as well as of factories producing Belarusian tractors and trucks.
In Venezuela Belarusian specialists are building housing (a total of about 20 thousand apartments), agritowns and a road-building machines production plant.
