Law Enforcement Authorities of Russia, Belarus and Lithuania Arrested Criminal Group which Effected Drug Deliveries to Kaliningrad Region

According to P.Ivanov, Head of Kaliningrad Drug Control Department, it is the second largest heroin consignment confiscated in the region since the establishment of the Department. 2.5 kilos of lethal drug didn’t reach the streets. The investigation of ethnic criminal group which included Gipsy and Lithuanian representatives was conducted not only by the officers of Kaliningrad Department of FDTCD and Kaliningrad Regional Customs, but also by their colleagues from Belarus and Lithuania.

On 10^th June 2008 all the members of the organized criminal group were caught red-handed in Guryevsk region. The drugs were transported by car from Belarus to Kaliningrad region via Lithuania. According to the criminal plan of drug pushers, such route should have secured hundred-per-cent delivery safety. But in fact, during the whole journey from supplier in Belarus to Kaliningrad buyers, heroine was under control of secret services.

Drug trafficker entered the region at 5 a.m. This time was not chosen accidentally as twilight, fog and relatively empty road should have played heroine trafficker’s game,” informs press service.

Having covered several tens of kilometers, the trafficker was detained. The drugs were hidden in hard-to-reach engine components which were pointed to by the pot hound.

“At present, five detainees are in investigation offices. Some of them are zealously denying the charge; the others having realized the gravity of the crime are repenting sincerely. In the sequel the guilt of each criminal group’s participant will be proved by the court. Now the criminal case according to the articles 228-1 part 3 clauses “ а , г ” traffic of narcotic drug heroine in particularly large quantity by organized criminal group and 188 part 2 – smuggling of narcotic drugs is brought before the court. “The detainees can be imprisoned for up to 25 years,” reported Kaliningrad Department of FDTCD.
