Belarusian law enforcement agencies have good intercourse with Russian Federation in the sphere of human traffic prevention, since Russia is not only the country of origin but also the country of destination. That was reported by Alexander Gavrilov, head of Department on drug control and human traffic resistance under Ministry of Interior in Belarus, in the course of round table “Prevention and clearance of human traffic crimes”.

Thus one of the previous major successful operations of Belarusian and Russian agencies was carried out in April, 2008 that was also due to the efficient data exchange.

Apart from that as lieutenant colonel Vasili Zorin, the head of Belarus’ State Frontier Committee department, said with the help of the data obtained by the Brest frontier guards in 2005-2006 and sent to Mary El Republic human traffic criminal organization was eradicated. “We have enough of such experience with each of the adjacent country”, - added V.Zorin. He pointed out that frontier service relations develop as well due to the annual meetings on the level of frontier departments’ leadership.

Apart from that Nikolai Goncharov, deputy head of the RF Federal migration service department in Smolensk district, reminded that investigation and search operations do not fall within jurisdiction of Russian FMS. But migration service with joint efforts of other agencies tries not to let pass to the territory of the Republic of Belarus the citizens who try to penetrate the territory of West Europe illegally as transit through Belarusian territory. “In this direction we cooperate with frontier service and transport internal affairs directorate; permanent control of Moscow-Minsk highway is exercised”, - he pointed out. It is worth mentioning that in State Frontier Committee agencies the system of data acquisition about the human traffic signs appearance has been created as well as the method of check and implementation of such data has been worked out. Apart from that at pass stations potential human traffic victims’ detection work and preventive measures targeted at prevention of young girls’ transportation abroad for prostitution purposes are being practiced.

In 2005-2007 home affaires agencies according to frontier service information initiated 19 human traffic criminal cases, 4 cases – for illegal actions aimed at employment abroad and 5 cases – for transportation abroad for prostitution purposes. Altogether 46 criminal cases have been initiated in Belarus in 2002-2008.
