Within the next few days Belarus expects Russia to sign a draft agreement on NPS construction. That was reported by the first vice Premier Vladimir Semashko during his talk with deputies.

He also said that “Belarus made a choice to install Russian power block VVR-1000 while building NPS” and pointed out that this block belongs to the advanced generation 3+ and is one of the most perfect blocks of its kind as far as safety is concerned. The production of the next NPS energy blocks generation will start not earlier than in 20 years.

The block has all the necessary set of security systems, both active and passive ones. VVR-1000 blocks work in Russia, China and are to be launched in Iran and India. “Thus it is a very use-proven and reliable project. All in all there are about 20 blocks of this kind being used in the world”, - said first deputy prime-minister.
