The largest number of corruption cases has been registered in Gomel region, said acting Head of the Department for Corruption and Organized Crime Control at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus Igor Greibo at the press conference.
According to him, this year the majority of corruption cases – 399 – were registered in Gomel region. The size of a bribe depends on the field of activity. The biggest one amounted to $ 500 thousand. An average bribe in Belarus makes up 200-300 dollars.
Igor Greibo also reported that there were a number of corruption cases in security, defence and law enforcement agencies. 41 offense was detected in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, in Belarusian Ministry for Emergency Situations – 4 cases, in the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of Belarus – 5, in KGB – 1, in the State Customs Committee – 18, in the State Border Committee of Belarus and Financial Investigation Department – 6 cases.
