National unitary enterprise “Kosmoaerologia” (space aerology) has started designing a new satellite system aimed at search and estimation of minerals on Belarusian territory. Ivan Tyashkevich, Head of the department on geodynamic monitoring and natural-resources exploration says that this system will be put into operation after a new Belarusian spacecraft is launched.
Among the advantages of the new product are: high performance, environmental safety and versatility. Its use will make it possible to cut down the expenses of exploration seismology as well as exploratory holes drilling to a considerable extent.
Design of the satellite system for searching and estimating the minerals will be carried out when implementing the union programme “Development of base elements, orbital and ground environment technologies for a multifunctional space system” (“Kosmos-NT”). The programme “Kosmos-NT” is financed from the budget of the Union State. More than RUB1.4 billion is to be assigned to implement it.
